The Duck is the principal antagonist in the episode, “Block Party.” Initially assumed to be male by Onion, after several ducklings hatch Apple and Onion revise their assumption.

The duck made a nest on Apple and Onion’s porch, and it is suggested that she has been a handful for the duo for some time. At the beginning of the episode, Apple makes it past the duck into the apartment with the cake for their block party.

After carelessly setting their ice cream cake next to their laptop, Apple and Onion proceed to the dollar store to get more supplies. The duck charges towards them on sight but they distract her with bread which she readily eats while they head to the fire escape.

Once Apple and Onion return from shopping, they proceed to distract the aggressive duck again to return to their apartment. But the duck ignores the slices they throw at her, flick away a chocolate croissant thrown at her, and catches a baguette thrown by Onion only for her to hit him with it and send him and Onion falling onto the fire escape.

Apple and Onion are more desperate to get past the duck upon realizing their cake will melt, collapse onto their laptop and destroy their song for their block party. Furthermore Falafel and the other tenants don’t take said news very well. After reassuring their landlord and fellow occupants, Apple and Onion don yellow duck costumes and proceed to get past the duck again. They try to imitate a duck’s movements and mannerisms and assure the duck that they were of her “kind.” The trick works, but the duo celebrate before actually entering the apartment. The duck gets suspicious after spotting an opened bum flap on Apple’s costume. She jumps into Apple’s suit and attacks him. She quickly jumps back and forth between Apple and Onion before slapping the former in his face with one of her webbed feet.

They next try to lure the duck with a paddling pool, but Apple decides to prank Onion by placing a fake duck on his head. Once Onion realizes it’s a joke, there’s no time to laugh as the real duck follows suit, sitting on Apple’s head. Apple initially thinks Onion pranked him with a fake duck hat, but soon the duck makes a loud hissing inhalation and chomps off a bit of Apple’s head.

Apple regrows the bitten portion of his head and with Onion they initiate “Cloud-Apple Sequence,” where Apple dresses up as a cloud and ties himself to a drone piloted by Onion to fly over the duck. As with the duck costumes, Apple celebrates upon reaching their apartment. He raises his arms in jubilation only for his cloud costume to be pulled and ripped to shreds by the drone’s propellers. The duck squawks in outrage, overpowers Onion, and takes over at the controls, sending Apple on a joyride that ends with him plummeting into ocean.

Onion decides they should start thinking outside the box in order to get past the duck but Apple mishears the suggestion and they promptly decide to put the duck into the box. After setting a cardboard box over the duck, they head in to save their song, only to hear ducklings cheeping. They ultimately fear for the safety of the tiny birds and turn their backs on their computer and head back to box where they trapped the mother duck. Naturally the duck attacks them and sends them rolling down the fire escape all the way to street level.

As they feared, Apple and Onion see the ducklings falling from their porch and they catch them as a crowd gathers around them to watch. After all the ducklings have been saved, they try to rescue their song, only to discover their laptop destroyed by a melted cake. In spite of their loss, Apple and Onion’s friends encourage them to recite the song by memory. The duo’s friends lend their voices to recreating the song and later to Apple’s surprise, the duck joins in, adding her quacks to the arrangement. She also graciously leans her head to Apple in forgiveness and thanks for saving her offspring. Apple considers taking her in as a pet, a consideration Onion kindly refuses.
